Deborah Sharon Buckner

Deborah Sharon Buckner, age 47, died on Monday, July 1, 2002, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN, following an extended illness.

Born in Haywood County, North Carolina, on August 26, 1954, to the late Dammon Bussell and Milam Martin Bussell, she had moved back to Blairsville, GA, two years ago after living twenty years in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Buckner was self employed in quilting because she had a love to sew, and also has worked for 12 years for Wal-Mart. She was a member and past president for the Churndashers club in Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Lower Hightower Baptist Church in Hiawassee, GA.

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Buster Bussell, of Hiawassee, GA, and Helen Ray, of Canton, N.C.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Jerry Buckner, of Blairsville, GA, two children, Stacey Corn, of Blairsville, GA, and Tony Brown, of Hiawassee, GA; three stepdaughters, Susan Fults, of Arlington, TX, Donita Barber and Judy Ryals, both of Oklahoma; one brother: James Bussell, of Blairsville, GA; four grandchildren: Joshua Corn and Kayla Corn, of Blairsville, GA, and Chad and Ashley Barber, of Chickasha, and many nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at the funeral home and the services were held on Friday, July 5, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lower Hightower Baptist Church in Hiawassee with the Rev. George Fortner officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Banister Funeral Home in Hiawassee, GA, was in charge of the arrangements.
